Lucas C.P.M. Meijs is a Professor of “Strategic Philanthropy” with the department of Business-Society Management, Rotterdam School of Management and the Erasmus Centre for Strategic Philanthropy (ECSP), Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is an appointed councilmember of the Council on Societal Development (RMO), one of the official advisory councils for the Dutch Government. Lucas also is one of the three editors of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, the leading academic journal in the field of philanthropic studies.
Meijs teaches on philanthropic management and governance, social entrepreneurship, and corporate community involvement. His current research projects focus on the future of civil society and philanthropy, volunteering and volunteer management, and corporate community involvement.
Meijs serves at the board of Stras, which is a Rotterdam organization organizing activities for disabled people, in addition to Van Harte Resto’s community restaurants, and two corporate foundations, ING Changes for Children and the Nuon Foundation.
